My name is Ruslan Odintsov. I was born in Kharkov, Ukraine. I studied at the Kharkov Special Music School for gifted children for eight years and graduated from there in 1994. By the way, there are only four special music schools like that in Ukraine, which has the population of 48 million people! Later I successfully entered into the Kharkov Institute of Arts (formerly called Kharkov Conservatory). I've been there for two years before I came to the United States. From the 6th grade and right until I left the country my piano teacher was Professor Tatiana Verkina. I must thank her for teaching me how to listen to the sound of the piano and how to make that special kind of sound on my own. Many teachers and students ignore this part of the piano playing, but without it it's just another percussion instrument. Even if your fingers can run as fast as the speed of light, but you're unable to make it sound right - it's boring! And of course you have to be a personality to be an artist.
While in the United States, I graduated from Rowan
University as a Piano Performance major. My teacher was Professor Veda Zuponcic. She's a famous person in South Jersey music circles and also in many other parts of the world.
I'm a winner of All-Ukraine Rachmaninov Piano Competition (1993) and New Jersey MTNA Piano Competition (1995). I've performed solo recitals in different places including Ukraine, Belarus, France, Germany and of course the United States. I played with a few orchestras like Kharkov Philharmonic, Lugansk Symphony Orchestra and also with Rowan Orchestra, as a winner of their competition. Nowadays I got involved into many other things like teaching the piano students, accompanying different vocalists and instrumentalists, playing for the Rowan University Concert Choir (Dr. Lourin Plant, conductor), All South Jersey Senior High Chorus (2005) and even for the Community Theatre organizations. Among them The Road Company in Williamstown, NJ, the Sketch Club Players in Woodbury, NJ, Spotliters, Inc. of Washington Township, NJ, DreamSpinners, Haddonfield Plays & Players, Haddon Summer Music Theatre, The Pineland Players, The Twilight Productions, The Broadway Theatre of Pitman, NJ and others. Also I've done a few shows for the Rowan University Theatre and Dance Department. I am also a two-time NJACT Perry Award nominee for 2006 and 2007 seasons in the Outstanding Musical Direction category.
Lately, a lot of my time is occupied with video and audio productions. Disques Odintsov label was formed to serve all those people who are tired of "professionals" who charge premium rates, but provide inferior products. I strive for perfection in anything that I do seriously, and because of that I have a very happy clientelle base. If you'd like to get some samples of my work, please contact me. I do anything from high quality audio recording, editing and engineering to photography, filming, graphic design and complex DVD and Blu-ray authoring. Disques Odintsov will most likely satisfy even the most demanding customers.
